Get Inspired: Being a proud recipient of last year’s RBC’s Top 25 Canadian Immigrants 2013 award, my team and I are happy to feature some very inspirational recipients awarded this year. Immigrants from the Philippines, Bangladesh, Tanzania and China were among those who were voted this year.

Their journeys begin with a dream, and through hard work, passion and determination, they then share that dream with the world. This show is to recognize their inspiring achievements!

They are proud Canadians. They are passionate, talented, honest and driven to make a difference. These inspirational immigrants have made various remarkable contributions to be voted RBC’s Top 25 Canadian Immigrants 2014. We will take you inside the celebration of their inspirational journey from the Philippines, Bangladesh, Tanzania and China!

SARTHAK SINHA
Originally from India, Sarthak Sinha was only 14 yrs old when he started research in neuroscience and stem cell biology.

NASSREEN FILSOOF
Nassreen Filsoof  left Iran in 1982 and resided in Vancouver in 1985. Nassreen was a volunteer who started a multicultural club and restored an East Vancouver facility into a long term care home for mental illness.

MOBINA JAFFER
Mobina Jaffer and her family came to Vancouver in 1972 after she and her family were exiled from Uganda. Today she represents British Columbia in the Senate of Canada and became the first Muslim senator, the first African born Senator and the first senator of South Asian descent.

JOHN VOLKEN
From Germany with less than $100 dollars in his pocket, John Volken’s success story from rags to riches was phenomenal. But one of his accomplishments was his foundation which helps recovering drug addicts and alcoholics, orphans and abandoned children in Africa.

VIVIAN ABBOUD
Believing that sky is the limit for immigrant women in Canada, Lebanese born Vivian Abboud volunteers in her community and played a key role in the development of the Women of Advocacy Voice of Edmonton.
